Minnesota Three LLC Solar Array
Minnesota Three LLC's Solar Array is a collaborative effort between Freeborn Mower Electric Cooperative (Albert Lea), People's Energy Cooperative (Oronoco) and MiEnergy Cooperative (Rushford) to bring commercial-grade solar energy to southeastern Minnesota. The 517 kW solar array began generating electricity on June 30, 2014, and harvests enough of the sun's rays to power about 60 homes.
The group was awarded a $385,000 federal grant in 2013 through the United States Department of Agriculture's Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) to assist with the cost of the project located just north of People's Energy Cooperative in Oronoco.
